1408
(2007)
The directing of 1408 is the capper to a very surprising horror movie in that as the story progresses, the dread increases and the tension rises. I haven't seen work this good with building suspense since The Others.
2012
(2009)
I actually think it would have been a better decision business-wise to call this movie Everything Explodes and Falls into the Ocean because at least by the year 2013, it won't sound stupid and dated.
The
40 Year-Old Virgin (2005)
Sure, anyone can laugh at an idiot like Van Wilder, but for a comedy to truly stay with you, you have to not only laugh but remember the characters as people that you care about. This is the kind of story that The 40 Year Old Virgin tells.
50
First Dates (2004)
A lot of people may dismiss this movie off hand simply because it’s an Adam Sandler vehicle, but I found it to be his best movie since Happy Gilmore and his most quietly touching since Punch Drunk Love.
